RECAP: LONDON FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY, FOOD STYLING & VIDEOGRAPHY WORKSHOP 2024

As food photographers, food bloggers and food content creators now is the time to broaden your skill set, explore creativity beyond photography and take videography seriously! That’s because, not only has the social media landscape changed dramatically since the pandemic requiring you to post more versatile content on your own channels, but brands now also want and need food photos and short form video content when working with food content creators like you. The good news is that this means that more collaboration opportunities for those who can deliver on all fronts, await!

So with this in mind and having seen our own client requests for content expand, my co-teacher Silvia and I knew we wanted to once again share our knowledge about how to create better and more engaging food content in our 2-day in-person London food styling, food photography and short form videography workshop!

Silvia and I wanted to teach our workshop attendees different content creation styles that would allow them to work with clients at varying price points, tap into trends when required, whilst also developing an elevated, stand out style all of their own. Moreover, our aim was to remove the overwhelm, share content creation systems that work and empower attendees to walk away with the confidence and practical knowledge to break through the feeling of content creation overwhelm!

The two workshop days were action packed; we explored all aspects of food content creation, short form video, creativity and styling at Silvia’s gorgeous London home studio. You can find some outtakes from the days below…..

DAY 1 - LONDON FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY, FOOD STYLING AND VIDEOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

Silvia and I wanted to give our talented workshop attendees the chance to…

  • learn the foundation of videography

  • develop their creativity and explore hands on food styling

  • understand how to create engaging, eye catching short form video

  • learn the art of transitions in short form video content and explore GIF creation

  • build a food photography portfolio

  • understand key short form video trends

  • edit short form video using mobile phone editing apps

We covered A LOT on day 1, and workshop attendees were able to film, photograph and style 5 separate, complete Reels/TikToks.

DAY 2 - LONDON FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY, FOOD STYLING AND VIDEOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

Building on the learning from day 1, Silvia and I slowed the pace down and focused not on the principle of creating more (great) content in less time, but instead on the principle of capturing intricate and elevated video and photography content. So, this meant that on day 2, workshop attendees had the chance to…

  • create a cinemagraphic recipe reel - we taught this focusing on dark, moody and romantic visual story telling

  • get to grips with editing in Premier Pro - students also received handouts and a screen recording so that they can revisit their learning at home.

A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU GOES OUT TO OUR FOOD STYLING WORKSHOP PARTNERS

Thank you all so much for gifting us and our attendees your beautiful (and delicious) goodies. This workshop could never have been what it was without your input.

  • DANTE CERAMICS - your ceramics are STUNNING and made an exceptionally gorgeous addition to the styling session and student goodie bags!

  • BLUEBERRY BACKDROPS - So colourful and fun! The styling sessions could not have been as effective without your backdrops and the attendees couldn’t believe their luck that their goodie bags included one!

  • OVO THINGS CANDLES - Your candles made our cake scenes EXTRA! Attendees were over the moon to find them inside their goodie bags! Thanks so, so much!

  • TWO AND ONE OLIVE OIL - Everything we made in the workshop, from the salads we styled, to the olive oil lemon cake we filmed, included your beautiful olive oil. I know attendees will cook with it for weeks to come!
